Located in the magnificent Pacific Northwest, the state of Idaho offers a variety of robust and unique environments and atmospheres to call home. From the gorgeous shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene in the north to the alpine slopes of Sun Valley in the south, you’re certain to find the perfect place to begin or continue your life as an Idahoan.

Surprisingly a part of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 which covered a vast expanse of land west of the Mississippi, Idaho was not formerly introduced into the Union until 1890 when President Harrison made it official. During the time between these historic events a number of historical figures made their way and made their mark through Idaho, forever changing what would soon become the 43rd state to join the US of A. Explorers of note include Meriwether Lewis and William Clark who ventured mostly through the Northern areas of the territory, and Donald Mackenzie who not only made the first exploration into southern Idaho but also established a number of fur trading posts along the way. From volcanic eruptions that happened thousands of years ago, to the introduction of the Oregon Trail in 1843 to the exponential growth in population from a mere 88,548 in 1890 to 1,211,537 at the last census in 2000, Idaho has seen great events and historical happenings and continues to be known as one of the finest states in the West.

Most famously known for their production of the best potatoes in the country (www.IdahoPotato.com), Idaho, commonly known as the “Gem State” also supports a number of other agricultural, touristic, and business enterprises. Economic trades include mass production of barrel cheese which is used in processed cheese (largest producer in the world), Boise exports a large supply of technology products including those from Hewlett-Packard and Micron, semiconductors make their way out of both Boise and Pocatello, and the growingly popular retail store Coldwater Creek is based out of Sandpoint. The cities and towns most often adventured by tourists subsume Coeur d’Alene, Moscow and Lewiston in the North; Boise in the Southwest; Twin Falls and Sun Valley in the South; and Pocatello and Idaho Falls in the East. Amongst these fine destinations you’ll find pristine lakes for boating, skiing, kayaking and more; daring whitewater rafting along the thousands of miles of ferocious rivers; historical landmarks and museums; world-class skiing, hiking and mountain climbing; things you never thought you’d find here like gambling, ballooning and wineries; and of course authentically traditional rodeos and ranches that can only be found in the great West.

Idaho is still considered one of the best-kept secrets of the U.S.; however the word is starting to get out. Whether you’re looking for a fine family-oriented town, a bustling city with nightlife and culture or a quiet lake-side community to retire in, you’ll find it in one of the many celebrated regions of Idaho. See what kind of homes are for sale and which of our members offer services in any of these great metropolises: Boise, Eagle, Kellogg, Priest River, Moscow, or Sun Valley.

What is a fact about Idaho that is not as popular as their reaping of America’s finest taters? Over sixty-percent of the land of Idaho is owned by the federal government. What does this mean? That any industry utilizing this land is subject to federal regulations put in place to diminish the impact that man has made on our natural resources… thereby helping to keep Idaho as close to its natural state as it was thousands of years ago!
